I started this blog over a year ago as a way to keep track of all the books that I was reading and to try to inspire my 7th grade students to read and love books as much as I do.  It wasn’t easy keeping up with a blog, but it was something that I enjoyed.

Things have changed a lot over the last year and I now feel like the focus of my blog is no longer what it used to be.  I have a new job.  I am no longer a 7th grade reading and English teacher.  I am now an English and Reading Curriculum and Technology Coach for a school district.  It’s my dream job.  However, there are times when I miss my students and miss the excitement they get when they find a book that grabs their attention.  I miss teaching lit circles, which was my favorite way to get kids excited about reading.

Even though there are so many things I miss about my old job, I wouldn’t trade what I have now.  My new job still allows me to inspire kids to read, just in a different way.  I can now help teachers find new and exciting ways to reach so many more students.  My job has also allowed me to pursue other interests that I have. I am currently working on my masters degree and pursuing my love of photography.

Taking pictures has always been a passion, but now that I have a little more time to study and learn this art, I feel that it is becoming a huge part of who I am.  I can’t drive down the road without thinking, “That would be a great place to take pictures”!

If you look at my blog, you can infer many things:

1. I didn’t devote as much time to it as I would have liked
2. It starts out being all about books.
3. Yes, it is very much a beginners blog, but I hope to change that this year!

My goal for this year is to blog more.  I know that my focus is no longer just books, and I hope to expand my blog to include photography and who knows what else will show up as the year progresses.  I know my blog isn’t the best one around, but bear with me while I figure this out and try to make it better with each and every post.
